Julian and Anne Marie developed close relationships with some of the artists whose works they collected frequently inviting them to their house in the Hamptons. Beginning in the 1950s, Julian and Anne Marie began to collect art works on their regular trips to Europe, often acquiring work directly from the artists or their galleries close to the time of the works’ creation. After the war, Julian continued to make regular trips to Europe where he met Anne Marie. The son of a successful jeweler in Vienna, Julian spent time in Europe during the 1930’s, where he became familiar with the international contemporary art scene. As the founder of music publisher, Hill and Range, Julian and his brother Jean helped musical icons, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Edith Piaf gain international fame.
